Gamma illness
Illness caused by the effects of radiation on body tissues. It may
be acute, delayed, or chronic and may occur as a result of cumulative exposure
to small doses of radiation (as in a plant, a laboratory, or the environment);
undue exposure to solar radiation; or exposure to a nuclear explosion.
Symptoms may be mild and transitory, or severe, depending on the type of
radiation, the dose, and the rate at which exposure is experienced. They
include weakness, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, a tendency to bleed,
increased susceptibility to infection, and--in severe cases brain damage
and death. Mild radiation sickness is a common side effect of radiation
therapy for CANCER. Exposure to radiation is of concern even in small doses
because of possible long-term genetic effects and increased cancer rates
in exposed people.
Gamma radiation from airlines
Although it is not the intention of GDR to deactivate natural Gamma
radiation, nor to cause harm to the airline business, but to warn of its
reality. GDR plans to keep an open mind into research which may find an
inexpensive means in shielding airlines and space travel vehicles from
Gamma Radiation.
Gamma on airlines and space travel craft
The atmosphere, including the ozone layer, protects us on the ground from high levels of Gamma radiation. But at approximately 20,000 feet and above where most commercial jets begin their altitude cruising flight patterns, the atmosphere stops it's protection of Gamma radiation and leaves the unknowing passenger defenseless.
On a research trip in 1996, to test levels of radiation in Las Vegas, a pocket Geiger Counter was taken on board an every day airliner. At about 18,000 to 22,000 feet above sea level the Geiger counter began to read 1 milli Rad per hour(1MR). At 20,000 feet and above the meter remained at a constant 1 MR.
I had found a radiation problem which seems to evade most media attention.
Optimal proportions of radiation contamination are affecting the public
at 20,000 ft above sea level. This a natural effect where high levels of
Gamma radiation is present above certain elevation. The airlines, nor space
related craft, have Gamma shielding to protect the public from the natural
effects of high altitude Gamma radiation. Without shielding, Gamma
radiation invades the whole body. This allows the whole body to be saturated
with harmful gamma radiation at a rate of 1Milli Rad an hour, which is
higher than one should feel safe with. The airlines manuals are quoted
to state that 4 continental flights are equal to one chest
X-ray.. Their calculation may be challenged. But the worst part is, the
public in general has no knowledge of this problem and should know the
risk, especially pregnant
women, heart patients, etc.
In my test I notice that when we got below 20,000 ft the Geiger counter returned to its normal reading of zero. I conducted the test on a second flight, this time at night, and found the same readings.
Further tests should be conducted to see if Gamma radiation may induce cancers in woman wearing metal in their bras, contributing to breast cancer, as well as men with keys or coins in their pockets for prostrate cancers. Tests should focus on the accumulation or concentration of Gamma radiation at or near points where metal is worn.
In an interview with a flight attendant it was stated that the few people are in the know of Gamma radiation. It is believed that the radiation may be the cause of an effect that leaves most pilots with premature white hair. Also what may be considered harmless Jet Lag, may be in fact Gamma radiation sickness. Further tests are needed to see if gamma does in fact harm human tissue.
Again, it is not GDR’s intention to do anything except educate on radiation
issues and look for ways to deactivate radiation. In the case of Gamma
radiation on airlines and space travel, it is GDR’s hopes that through
research a simple Gamma shielding is found..
